Welcome to St. Mary’s CE Primary School

Part of the Minerva Learning Trust

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am delighted to be the new Headteacher of St Mary’s and I am looking forward to leading the school on the next step of its journey. We are very blessed at our school to have a highly experienced and dedicated team of staff who care deeply about nurturing and encouraging your children to achieve their very best.  I am looking forward to working closely with them, in partnership with you and our governors, to ensure all the children in our care achieve their full potential.

I have been a teacher for eighteen years, working across a range of year groups and have been both Deputy Head and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). In 2012 I completed a Master’s Degree in Early Mathematical Intervention. This fuelled my passion for pursuing the very best teaching and learning approaches that help our children develop a love of learning and a belief that they can achieve the very best. At St Mary’s we encourage children to challenge themselves in their learning and ensure that children know that mistakes are a crucial part in developing and refining their thinking.

I have lived in Bridport for the last 16 years and am married with a step daughter in her 30’s and a teenage son who is just starting his GCSEs in Year 9.  I am a keen baker and enjoy walking my cockapoo dog Barney, who has made the occasional visit into school to meet the children! As a parent myself I know that bringing up children, especially in today’s world, is not an easy task. Together with my team we will aim to understand and support you in every way that we can to navigate the sometimes tricky path, of being a parent of a primary school aged child.

Our results this year have been pleasing and I intend to build on these and inspire my team to ensure that every child makes as much progress as they can.  Children are individuals with many different talents and abilities. We provide them with a broad curriculum with many varied and exciting opportunities to learn in different ways and to achieve their best. We want children to be proud of, and enthusiastic about, being part of our school.

I am always happy to hear your thoughts and ideas and I look forward to working in close partnership with you.

Kind regards,

Kate Batorska
Headteacher
