Permanent Headteacher Appointment

I am delighted to tell you that after a rigorous and competitive interview process, Kate Batorska was offered the permanent position as Headteacher from April 1st this year.

We are all confident that Kate will do an excellent job and St Mary’s is very lucky to have her as our Headteacher.

The future looks very bright for our school, which I am sure will go from strength to strength under her leadership.

Bridport Christmas Cheer

MLTCheer 2018

Bridport’s Minerva Trust Dazzle at Christmas Cheer

All schools in the Minerva Trust provided sparkling entertainment in a packed event at Bridport’s Christmas Cheer. They performed in the United Church surrounded by the Christmas trees that celebrate community activity in the town.

A combined St Mary’s and Bridport Primary choir opened proceedings, followed by the MLT choir, including children from Colfox and Burton Bradstock School. Burton children finished off the singing with Christmas carols before the massed recorders from all Primary schools lifted hearts and voices with their rendition of Jingle Bells. All staff were thanked by organiser Sheila Meaney.

David Powell Chair of Governors at Bridport Primary singled out the Choir and music leader Lauren Good and thanked her for her contribution. ‘Lauren leads on the Minerva Trust music. The Trust introduced recorder teaching this year and it was wonderful to see how she has developed the musical skill of so many children’.

"It is wonderful to see our choir performing in the community," said Kay Taylor, Executive Principal of the Minerva Learning Trust.  "This would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors, the Burton Bradstock Festival of Music and Art and Palmers Brewery. A rich education has to embrace all aspects of learning and the creative side is just as important as the academic.  With funding so tight in schools we are very lucky to be able to maintain our broad curriculum thanks to this financial support from our local community".

St Mary's Night of Honour

It was wonderful again to celebrate the individuals and organisations who make Bridport a great place to live.
