Governors

GOVERNING BODY

Helen Farmer,  Headteacher -

My children joined St. Mary's School in 1996 and I became a parent helper, dinner lady and teaching assistant. It is lovely to rejoin the school as Headteacher.

Martin Warne, Community Governor - (05/15-05/19)

I became a Community Governor in 2010 and serve on the Partnership sub-committee as well as the full Governing Body and am a Link Governor to Reception Class.

This is my second time serving at St. Mary's School having originally been a Governor in the early 90's when my children were students. I work for Dorset Children's Services, mainly for the Safeguarding Unit - I am a Social Worker by profession.

I have always had a close affinity to this school and have thoroughly enjoyed working here again.

Brian Shelley - Chair of Governors (05/15-05/19)

I retired to Bridport in 2006 to be closer to my grandchildren and enjoy the delights of the Jurassic Coast. Before that I was Headteacher of a Special School for 20 years. I have been Clerk to Governors at St. Mary's for 3 years before becoming a Community Governor in September 2012. I wanted to continue my association with the school because I think it does a wonderful job in giving all its pupils opportunities to learn and be creative.

Mandy Rathbone, Clerk to Governors -

Both my children attended St. Mary's School between 1992 - 1999 and were very happy here. During their years here I was a member of the School Association (now called FoSM) and was always delighted to be involved in the life of the school. I was really pleased to be appointed Clerk to the Governors so that I could reconnect with staff and children here. During the rest of my working week I am a freelance bookkeeper and administrator. In my spare time I love walking and gardening.

Esther Britton – Parent Governor - (10/13 - 10/17)

My children are both at St Mary’s and I am involved in supporting the school in various ways. I am originally from London but have been in Bridport now for 6 years and intend to stay!

Clive Faircloth - Foundation Governor - (10/13 - 10/17)

I taught in Weymouth before retiring and enjoy remaining involved in education. I am linked to a class and this gives me insights into how well they are doing.

Alan Moss - CSA Governor - (01/15 - 01/19)

Over the years I have worked at Local Authority level in Dorset and further afield. I am a Trustee on the Minerva Learning Trust Board.

Revd. Pete Stone - Ex-Officio Governor - (10/14 - 10/18)

It is a privilege to work with and support St Mary’s. The pupils are always welcoming and keen to ask questions and help one another. I am an army Padre and have enjoyed linking the school and regiment.

Rosslyn Westall - Foundation Governor - (10/15 - 10/19)

I am looking forward to my time as a governor and using my skills and passion to engage and enthuse the children.

Chris Wellman-Herold - Foundation Governor - (02/16 - 02/20)

I am a volunteer fireman and church warden. Reading is a great pleasure for me and I enjoy sharing stories with the children

Sarah Geldard - Teacher Governor

I am the reception class teacher and have worked at St Mary's for the last 6 years.
