General information for parents

We hope the information below will be of interest to you. St Mary's has a lot to offer with an interesting curriculum and dedicated staff.

Safeguarding - We take the safety of children very seriously and have three designated members of staff trained to level 3; they are Mrs Farmer, Mrs Geldard and Mrs Gerard. If you are concerned about the welfare and safety of a child in or out of school please make contact via the school office. Thank you.

Attendance- We are often asked if we can pass on a holiday request form seeking permission to take children out of school during term time. For many years now we have  not actually been  allowed to authorise holidays that are taken during term time.  If absence during term is caused by a holiday then the code ‘G’ is applied and this is recorded as ‘unauthorised absence’.  In some parts of the country (and in some Dorset schools) any absence due to a holiday will automatically result in a fine being imposed.  Dorset County Council are strongly encouraging this for holidays that are 5 (10 sessions) days or longer.

School Performance Tables can be found by clicking on this link http://www.education.gov.uk/schools/performance/

Curriculum information - each class publishes a termly newsletter which explains the curriculun coverage for that term. Please look under class news from the home page. In our policy section you will also be able to find infomation on our Teaching and Learning Policy as well as the History and Geography topic map.
