Year 6 Evacuee Day Recap!

We journeyed back in time for our Year 6 Evacuee Day, coming to school dressed as children from the wartime era. Throughout the day, we experienced what it might have been like to be evacuated for our safety. We listened to a real evacuee's heartfelt letter, which helped us imagine their emotions during such a challenging time. Inspired by this, we wrote our own letters home to our parents, stepping into the shoes of evacuee children.

Each of us brought a small box of belongings to school, containing items we would take if we had to evacuate. We shared our choices with the class, explaining the significance of each item. To further immerse ourselves in the experience, we taste-tested rationed foods, sampling treats like spam and rice pudding! Finally, we explored atlases to discover the exact locations where we would have been evacuated across the country. It was a day full of learning, reflection, and a deeper understanding of history!
